WAPC was created to form a more organized structure of Public, Educational, and Government access television facilities in Wisconsin. WAPC was formed in 1998 with the election of the first board of directors. WAPC is registered as a 501C6 non-profit organization.

WAPC’s mission is to provide networking and resources that support and promote Wisconsin's diverse PEG access community. The Wisconsin Association of Peg Channels has an involved, growing and diverse membership that works to strengthen the value of Wisconsin PEG access channels and that enrich communities across the state. WAPC holds bi-annual conferences, coordinates an annual videofest, provides public policy updates and supports its member stations. WAPC conducts member surveys and issues studies and reports.
